Stars Outscored By NAC's Top Offense

Box Score The Dominican University men's basketball team held the top two scorer's for the Northern Athletics Conference's (NAC) a combined 16 points below their average but the Lakeland College Muskies were still able to outscore the visiting Stars 86-73 on Saturday evening.

Lakeland's Jake Schwarz (24.2 ppg) scored 19 in Saturday's win for the Muskies while Justin Ward (17.5 ppg) was held in check by the Stars, managing just six points in 15 minutes. However, Joey Burris picked up the slack for the Muskies, pouring in 26 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field, including 5-for-9 from three-point range.

The teams traded leads in the early going with Kyle Sherwin (White Lake, Mich.) evening the score at 19-19 with 10:50 remaining in the first half but Kurt Jansen's basket in transition on the next Lakeland possession put the Muskies ahead and they never trailed again.

Anthony Keener paced the Stars in scoring for the ninth time in 14 games this season, dropping in 18 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the field. Taylor DeRoo (Holland, Mich.) added ten points in the losing effort while Logan Harris (Pleasant Plains, Ill.) chipped in nine points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

The loss drops the Stars to 4-10 on the season and 2-4 in the NAC. Dominican will be back in action on Wednesday night, hosting the Concordia Chicago Cougars in a River Forest Rivalry matchup. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. in the Igini Sports Forum.
