Stars And Warriors Play To Draw

Box Score The Dominican University women's soccer team outshot the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors 22-10 on Tuesday night in Milwaukee, Wis., but each side found the back of the net just one time as the Stars and Warriors played to a 1-1 draw in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes that saw the Stars rip eight shots to just three for the Warriors, Dominican finally broke through in the 47th minute, taking advantage of their lone corner kick opportunity of the second half, as Kelly Petty (Crystal Lake, Ill.) got on the end of Nathalie Mathis's (Mundelein, Ill.) service, pushing a header past the Warriors' Kate Gucinski for her team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Wisconsin Lutheran evened the score five minutes later as the Warriors played a ball into the Stars' box that eventually ended in the back of the goal off the foot of a Dominican defender.

The score was the lone goal allowed by the Dominican's Vanessa Gonzalez (Chicago, Ill.) and Sara Stepanovich (Des Plaines, Ill.) who split time in goal for the Stars, combining for five saves.

The Stars will return to River Forest for Saturday's homecoming contest against the Edgewood College Eagles. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. on Dominican's West Campus Field.
