Box Score The Dominican University men's soccer team appears to be hitting its stride, cruising to a 5-0 win over the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors on Wednesday night in Milwaukee, pushing the Stars' winning streak to four matches.
"We are making progress," said Erick Baumann. "This was a complete, team game tonight. A few of the guys played their best minutes of the year."
The Stars got on the board early as
Alex Rohder (Orland Park, Ill.) found the back of the net in the sixth minute, netting what would eventually prove to be the game-winner. Rohder didn't waste any time getting back in the mix, tallying his third goal of the season less than two and a half minutes later to give the Stars a 2-0 advantage.
Logan Marvin (Johnston, Iowa) pushed Dominican's lead to 3-0 in the 24
th minute as the Stars carried the three-goal lead into halftime having outshot the Warriors 9-1 throughout the first half.
Marvin struck again in the 69
th minute, notching his fourth goal of the season while
Ryan Ybarra (Des Plaines, Ill.) capped the game's scoring with his third goal of the season in the 81
st minute.
Freshman goalkeeper
Gabriel Gongora (Naperville, Ill.) picked up the shutout victory, virtually untested as the Stars' defense allowed just one shot the entire match. Gongora now has three shutouts on the season.
Enzo Berrini (Bolingbrook, Ill.) picked up three assists for the Stars while Roder finished with a season-high five points with two goals and an assist.
Dominican now stands at 7-4-0 on the season and 5-1-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). The Stars will return to River Forest to take on the Edgewood College Eagles on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on the Stars' West Campus Field.
