The Dominican University women's tennis team fought its way to the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Tournament semifinals with a 5-3 win over the fifth-seeded Marian University Sabres at Taylor Park on Monday afternoon.
Marbeya Berner (New Lenox, Ill.) tallied the clinching point for the Stars as she tallied a 6-1, 6-0 win at number four singles over the Sabres Sarah Brooker.
The bottom of the Stars lineup came up huge, scoring victories at four, five and six singles in straight sets and numbers two and three doubles, 8-6 and 8-2 respectively. Berner and teammate
Monica Budzak (Chicago, Ill.) cruised at three doubles, 8-2, while Budzak blanked Karianne Hofstetter at number six singles.
Dominican will take on the top-seeded Edgewood College Eagles in the semis on Saturday at Kohler Sports Core in Kohler, Wis.
