The Dominican University women's tennis team had their three-match winning streak snapped on Saturday, falling to the Aurora University Spartans 6-3 to fall to 4-6 on the season and 4-5 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).
Dominican took a 2-1 lead after doubles actions, snagging a 9-7 victory at number two doubles where
Megan Hickey (Plainfield, Ill.) and
Natalie Bestler (Hinsdale, Ill.) moved to 7-2 on the season and picked up their sixth straight victory.
Katelyn Ratterman (Carol Stream, Ill.) and
Stephanie Castaneda (Mendota, Ill.) doubled up their doubles counterparts, winning 8-4 at number three doubles.
However, the Stars managed just one point in singles action with Hickey topping Aurora's Jordan Hankes 7-5 (7-4), 6-0 to improve to 5-4 in NACC singles action on the season.
The Stars, still fighting for a spot in the six-team NACC Tournament, return to the courts on Tuesday, September 24, to take on the Benedictine University Eagles. The NACC match is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start at the Stars' home courts in Forest Park.
