Box Score 2 The Dominican University women's volleyball team opened the IIAC/NACC Challenge on Friday with a pair of convincing victories over the Loras College Duhawks and the University of Dubuque Spartans in the Wisconsin Dells. On Saturday, the Stars will open the day against Wartburg College before closing out the tournament against the Coe College Kohawks.
Caitlen Foote (Dexter, Mich.) and
Claire Dezelski (Northville, Mich.) shouldered the Stars' offensive attack as Dominican rolled over Loras in three sets, 25-11, 25-21, 25-20. The duo combined for 26 kills on 60 attacks while committing just five errors in leading the Stars to a .261 hitting percentage.
Foote finished with a match-high 14 kills and added an assisted block for a total of 14.5 points in the match while Dezelski knocked down 12 kills, added one service ace and an assisted block for 13.5 points. Foote and Dezelski added 16 and 19 digs in a pair of double-double efforts.
Cheyanne Kelly (Kalamazoo, Mich.), the Stars' libero, collected 31 digs.
The Stars one-two offensive punch continued its stellar play in Dominican's second match, combining for 27 kills as the Stars cruised through the Spartans 25-14, 25-18, 25-16. Foote again took match-high honors with 14 kills while Dezelski added 13.
The wins lift the Stars to 13-6 on the year with Dominican winning seven of their last eight matches.
