Stars Fall On The Road At Lakeland

Box Score The Dominican University men's basketball team used a 19-6 run to end the first half, taking a 43-32 lead at the break, but let that lead slip away in a 75-66 loss to the Lakeland College Muskies on Saturday afternoon.

Anoribe Nwannewuihe (Chicago, Ill.) gave the Stars a 60-51 lead on a lay in with over ten minutes to play but the Muskies outscored the Stars 24-6 the rest of the way.

The Stars managed to shoot just 27.5% from the field (8-29) in the second half after shooting over 43% from the field in the first half while the Muskies recovered from 36% shooting in the first half to go 14-for-24 from the field in the second half.

Logan Harris (Pleasant Plains, Ill.) paced the Stars with 15 points and ten rebounds in the losing effort. Harris went 5-for-11 from the field, including 2-for-4 from three-point range, in 38 minutes of work. Mike Bobek (Orland Hills, Ill.) and Ryan Risley (Oak Lawn, Ill.) combined for 26 points off the Stars' bench while freshman Josh Mayberry (Canton, Mich.) chipped in 12 points for Dominican.

Justin Ward led the Muskies with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Stan McKenzie added 19 points for the Muskies, going 9-for-14 from the field.

The Stars, now 1-12 on the season, will be back in action on Tuesday, playing host to the Concordia University Chicago Cougars. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. in the Igini Sports Forum.
