Stars Overshadow Eagles To Claim NACC Championship

The Dominican University women's volleyball team made quick work of the Benedictine University Eagles on Wednesday night, winning in three sets (25-10, 25-14, 25-17) to claim at least a share of the 2014 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) regular season title.

The Stars' offense overpowered the Eagles, hitting .600 in the opening set and .383 in the match to cruise to the victory.  Caitlen Foote (Dexter, Mich.) paced the attack, knocking down 14 kills on just 21 attacks while committing just one error.  Carri Chambers (Winnebago, Ill.) added ten kills while Maddi Zanoni (Hudsonville, Mich.) collected nine kills on just 12 attempts.  Christina Wilson (Homer Glen, Ill.), the NCAA Division III leader in assists per set, dished out 36 assists in the winning effort.

Defensively, Wilson collected a match-high 13 digs to round out her 15th double-double effort of the season.  Becky Honerlaw (Waukesha, Wis.) added ten digs as the Stars limited the Eagles to a .133 attack percentage.

Dominican improves to 20-8 on the year and 10-0 in the NACC with a chance to clinch the conference championship outright, something the Stars have done just once in program history, when the Stars host Lakeland College for a Saturday afternoon match in the Igini Sports Forum.
