The Dominican University men's soccer team traveled up to Olivet, Michigan, to take on the Olivet College Comets on Sunday afternoon, posting an impressive 3-1 win for the Stars' ninth win in as many games to move to 12-4-2 on the season.

"That was a good win on the road," commented Erick Baumann, the Stars' head coach in his 20
th season. "That is a tough team and a tough place to play. We did what we needed to do and now we need to get some rest and prepare to play for the conference championship at home on Wednesday."

Dominican scored three unanswered goals after the Comets got on the board in just the fifth minute of play. Olivet's David Magallon scored from 15-yards out after the Comets collected a failed clearance attempt by the Stars.

The lead was short-lived as the Stars, who have been deadly on restart opportunities throughout their nine-match winning streak, took advantage of a restart after an Olivet foul.Â

Playing with a man advantage the entire second half after Olivet's Michael Brait took his second yellow card of the match, Dominican added an insurance goal in the 63
rd minute on
Manuel Pillado's (Elk Grove, Ill.)Â first goal of the season.

The Stars outshot the Comets 14-6, putting seven shots on goal to Olivet's four.Â
Zach Watson (Carol Stream, Ill.) picked up the win for the Stars, giving up one goal and making two saves while logging 45 minutes in goal.Â
Gabriel Gongora (Naperville, Ill.) posted a clean sheet for the second half, making one save over the final 45 minutes.

Dominican returns to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action on Wednesday, hosting the MSOE Raiders for a 3:00 p.m. kickoff on West Campus Field. With a win, the Stars secure a share of the NACC championship for the ninth straight season.
