The Dominican University men's soccer team picked up its third straight victory and posted its second consecutive shutout with a 4-0 win over the visiting Lakeland College Muskies on Saturday afternoon in River Forest.
Â
Leading 1-0 at the half,
Neftali Alejandre (Pilsen, Ill.) received a pass from
Frankie Saiz (Naperville, Ill.) taking one touch to get into the 18-yard box before beating Lakeland's Austin Ganzke with a low, hard shot with his left foot to the far post. The score was the second of the game for Alejandre who scored in the seventh minute as he made a run up the middle of the field before getting on the end of a cross into the box from freshman Adam Yaghmour.
Â
In the 56

Â
Dominican continued to possess throughout the remainder of the half with Saiz eventually tallying another goal in the 82
nd minute to cap the day's scoring.
Â
"The difference between the first half and second half in today's game was that we played with energy and attacked in the second half," said Stars' head coach Erick Baumann. "We scored some nice goals because of it but it's a 90-minute game and we need to perform and play up to expectations for an entire 90 minutes."
Â
Dominican used three goalkeepers in the shutout effort with
Zach Watson (Carol Stream, Ill.) getting the start and credit for the win. Â In total, Dominican's three goalkeepers faced just three shots, none on goal, as the Stars outshot the Muskies 12-3.
Â
The win pushes the Stars to 6-4-1 on the year and 4-1-0 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action. Dominican will be back in action on Tuesday, hosting the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff on West Campus Field.
