Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Stars Fall Despite Hardin’s Career Effort

The Dominican University women's basketball team got a career-high 21 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field from freshman Jasmyn Hardin (Cincinnati, Ohio) but fell 85-53 to the visiting Marian University Sabres on Saturday afternoon in River Forest.

The Stars outshot the Sabres, shooting 42-percent from the field (21-50) but Dominican committed a season-high 39 turnovers and surrendered 18 offensive rebounds as the Sabres got off 20 more shots, shooting an even 40-percent from the field.  The Sabres were also very opportunistic, scoring 33 points off of turnovers and adding another 11 second-chance points.

Marian was led by Brittany Bauman's game-high 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the field.  Bauman was 4-for-5 from three-point distance and added five rebounds and three steals in 21 minutes.  Nicole Paulus added 13 points while Sarah Olewinski and Megan Lantz added 12 points apiece.

The loss drops Dominican to 0-5 on the season and 0-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).  The Stars will look to snap their skid on Wednesday, hosting the Rockford University Regents (0-4, 0-1) in the Igini Sports Forum. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
