The Dominican University men's basketball team fell to 1-9 on the season and 1-6 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) with a 72-54 loss at Concordia University Wisconsin on Tuesday evening.

After falling behind by as many as 11 in the first six minutes, Dominican narrowed the gap to six, 26-20, with 7:52 remaining in the first half before the host Falcons went on a 12-4 run to close the half and take a 38-24 lead at the break.

Dominican whittled the lead all the way down to four in the first three minutes of the second half but then went on a three-plus minute scoreless drought as the Falcons pushed the lead back up to 13, 49-36, with 13 minutes to play and never looked back.

Sophomore
Josh Mayberry (Canton, Mich.) paced the Stars in the losing effort with 17 points on 6-for-15 shooting from the field. Mayberry added six rebounds, four assists and three steals in 34 minutes of work.Â
Quinn Pokora (Mundelein, Ill.) was the only other player to reach double-figures for the Stars, scoring 11 points while limited to 21 minutes.

The Falcons, led by Malcolm Bowers 14 points and seven rebounds, shot 43.5 percent from the field (27-62) and scored 18 second chance points as they pulled down 17 offensive rebounds.

The Stars will enjoy a brief break before heading to Greensboro, N.C., for a pair of games on December 29 and 30. Dominican will take on Lake Forest College and Greensboro College with both games being played at Greensboro.Â
