Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Stars Outlasted By Host Pride

The Dominican University men's basketball team could not keep pace with the host Greensboro College Pride on Tuesday night, falling to the Pride, 77-61, to cap the Stars' road trip to Greensboro and close out the non-conference portion of the 2014-2015 schedule.

The Stars trailed just 40-35 at the break, shooting 13-for-26 from the field over the first 20 minutes.  Anoribe Nwannewuihe (Chicago, Ill.) scored eight of his team-high 13 points in the first half, shooting 3-for-4 from the field.

After Dominican scored to narrow the gap to 40-37 on the Stars' second possession of the second half, the Pride went on an 18-4 run, that started with an 8-0 run, to open Greensboro's lead to 58-41 with 11:21 to play.

Dominican then made a run of their own, scoring seven straight capped by a Tim Robertson (Chicago, Ill.) lay in to narrow the gap down to ten with 9:06 to play.

Greensboro regrouped, opening their largest lead of the night, 75-51, courtesy of a 17-4 run that spanned 5:02 and was capped by a two-hand slam by Devan Gregory that put the game out of reach.

The Stars shot just 32-percent from the field in the second half, going 9-for-28, including 0-for-5 from three while the Pride carried their hot hand into the second frame, going 15-for-27 from the field over the final 20 minutes.

Nwannewuihe's career-high 13 points led three in double-figures for Dominican with Robertson adding 12 and Mike Lizak (Norridge, Ill.) coming off the bench to score ten, going 5-for-5 at the foul line.

Gregory paced the Pride with a game-high 20 points while Simeon Howard dropped in 19 points in the winning effort.

Dominican returns to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action on Saturday, hosting the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors for a 4:15 p.m. tipoff in the Igini Sports Forum.
