The Dominican University women's tennis team returned to action on Sunday afternoon for their first match since a 7-2 win over the Concordia Chicago Cougars back on October 1, 2013, falling to the Elmhurst College Bluejays 8-1 in non-conference action.
Natalie Bestler (Hinsdale, Ill.) and
Stephanie Castaneda (Mendota, Ill.) combined for the Stars' lone point of the match, topping Elmhurst's Ragan Wilson and Jennifer Guenther 8-6.
The match was the Stars' final tune-up leading into the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) tournament that opens play on Tuesday. The Stars, 5-9 on the season and 5-6 in the NACC, travel to Mequon, Wis., on Tuesday to take on the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons in the NACC quarterfinals. The winner advances to the tournament semifinals that will be played on Saturday, May 3, at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison, Wis.
