Box Score The Dominican University women's soccer team opened the 2014 campaign with a 1-0 shutout victory over the Elmhurst College Bluejays on Friday afternoon, picking up the first career collegiate coaching victory for first-year head coach Carlos Carrillo in the process.

Lexi Kiotis (Park Ridge, Ill.) hit the post with a shot in the 61

Leah Tednes (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) gathered the rebound and blasted a shot into the back of the Elmhurst goal from 15 yards out. The tally was the first of the season and 14
th of her career.
Junior goalkeeper
Sara Stepanovich (Des Plaines, Ill.) made the goal stand up, making five saves to pick up her sixth career shutout. Stepanovich faced ten shots, making five saves while Dominican fired 13 shots at Elmhurst's Melinda Vickers who made six saves.

The win was the Stars' first over the Bluejays since 2008, snapping a five-match losing streak to Elmhurst.

Dominican will be back in action on Sunday, hosting the Millikin University Big Blue for a 12:00 p.m. kickoff on West Campus Field.
