The Dominican University women's tennis team fell in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action on Wednesday evening, dropping a dual to the visiting Benedictine University Eagles, 7-2.
For the fourth straight match, freshman
Carmelita Villalobos (Addison, Ill.) picked up a pair of points for the Stars. At number three doubles, Villalobos and doubles partner,
Morganne Schmidt (West Dundee, Ill.), topped Benedictine's team of Anna Savio and Anna MacLachlan by a score of 8-4. In singles action, Villalobos, paired with Savio, scratched out a tiebreaker first set, 7-5, before rolling through Savio in the second set, 6-0.
With the wins, Villalobos runs her record to 4-0 in both singles play while her and Schmidt move to 4-0 at number three doubles.
The Stars fall to 2-2 on the season and 2-1 in the NACC. Dominican is back in action on Saturday, travelling to Milwaukee to take on the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors and Alverno College Inferno.
