The Dominican University women's tennis continued its strong start to the 2014 season on Saturday, taking a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) dual matches from Wisconsin Lutheran, 6-3, and the Alverno College Inferno, 7-2.

Against the Warriors in the morning match, the Stars took a 3-0 lead after doubles with the Stars' numbers one and three doubles teams posting 8-2 victories with the number two team of
Megan Hickey and
Mady Corrie rolled through their counterparts from Wisconsin Lutheran, 8-1.

In singles action, the Stars' freshmen trio at the bottom half of the lineup closed out the victory as Dominican swept flights four, five and six.Â
Carmelita Villalobos and
Morganne Schmidt each remained undefeated in singles play with wins at numbers four and six respectively. Villalobos topped Bethany Soderlund, 6-0, 6-1, while Schmidt knocked off Tabitha Schultz, 6-0, 6-3.

In the afternoon match with the Inferno, the Stars started with three points in doubles action just as they did against the Warriors. Villalobos, Corrie and Schmidt picked up singles victories along with sophomore Hickey who topped the Inferno's Laeren Yates, 7-5, 6-0.

The wins pushes the Stars to 4-2 on the season and 4-1 in the NACC. The Stars return to action on Tuesday when the Elmhurst College Bluejays visit the Stars for a 4:00 p.m. match in Forest Park.
