WashU and Dominican Alums Enjoy Day At Dominican

On Saturday, September 6, the Dominican University department of athletics kicked off a soccer triple-header with a friendly match between men's soccer alums from Dominican University and Washington University-St. Louis.

In total, 24 Dominican University alums and 16 alums from Washington University participated in a match that kicked off at 9:00 a.m. on Dominican University's West Campus Field. After a 2-1 victory by the Stars' alums, the sides enjoyed a reception in Springer Suites and the library patio before taking in the varsity men's soccer match between the two institutions at 2:30 p.m.

Most of the alums in attendance stuck around for the main event, with the 16th-ranked Washington University Bears and the Dominican University Stars playing to a thrilling 1-1 draw.

"It was a fun day for everyone involved," said director of athletics and head men's soccer coach Erick Baumann. "The alums from both sides seemed to really enjoy competing against each other once again and it was really great to see the teams interact in the receptions following the match."

Baumann and his men's soccer staff hopes to make an annual event with the Washington University alums, helping to fuel what has become an fun rivalry on the field.
