The Dominican University men's basketball team came up on the short side of a 73-63 game against their River Forest rivals, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars, on Tuesday evening despite a career-high 31 points and 11 rebounds from freshman
Tim Robertson (Chicago, Ill.) in the losing effort.
Dominican opened the game on a 12-4 run over the first four minutes and later led 23-9 with 11:20 to play in the first half before the Cougars started to rally. The Cougars continued to roll early in the second half, building a 56-41 lead with under 15 minutes to play.
Dominican was able to narrow the gap to eight a couple of times, but could never get any closer in suffering their seventh straight loss and falling to 1-15 on the season.
Robertson went 14-for-26 from the field but the rest of the Dominican team managed to shoot just 28-percent, 11-for-39, from the field.
Josh Mayberry (Canton, Mich.) scored 12 points, all in the first half, but was 0-for-7 from the field during the second half while
Anoribe Nwannewuihe (Chicago, Ill.) added 11 points and pulled down seven boards.
The Cougars had four in double-figures scoring led by Kylan Anderson's 19 points. Concordia shot near 44-percent (28-64) from the field and converted on 13-of-15 attempts from the free throw line.
