"I'm really excited to keep plugging away with this group," said
Gabby Johnson, the Stars' third-year head coach, when asked about her team's performance. "They are competing and starting to figure things out. Our next step, as a team, is to minimize the mental mistakes and learn how to win these close games that come down to the wire."
Dominican trailed by as many as 16 along the way but used a 9-0 run that spanned 2:13 and was capped by a Clark three-pointer with 12:34 to play to pull the Stars within 48-41.
The Stars kept it close the rest of the way but Rockford's offense was able to keep pace with the Stars, shooting 55-percent from the field during the second half.
