The Dominican University men's volleyball team went toe-to-toe with the Juniata College Eagles, ranked #1 in the AVCA Division III Men's Top 15 Poll, on Friday evening in the Igini Sports Forum with the Stars falling in four sets (25-22, 20-25, 25-23, 25-15).

With the match tied at one set apiece, the visiting Eagles changed the momentum in the match with a 6-2 run to close out the third set and erase a 21-19 deficit. The Eagles then carried that momentum into the fourth set, putting away the Stars with a 7-2 run to open a 14-9 lead and never looking back.

Dominican, hitting .240 in the match, was paced by freshman
Brad McFarland (Tinley Park, Ill.) who knocked down 15 kills on 37 total attacks and hitting .216 for the match.Â
Nick Timreck (Downers Grove, Ill.) and
Zachery Sinn (Winfield, Ill.) added 12 kills apiece while
Alex Coyne (Naperville, Ill.) doled out 47 assists.Â

Defensively, Dominican tallied 8.5 total blocks with
Aidan Spangler (Western Springs, Ill.) posting four total blocks while Coyne and
Adam Janusz (Channahon, Ill.) had three total blocks each.

The Eagles were led by Justin Waldorf's 14 kills while Joe Bortak collected 12 kills.

Dominican, now 0-3 on the season, returns to play on February 7, traveling to Dubuque, Iowa, to open Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League play against the Loras College Duhawks.
