The Dominican University women's volleyball team swept the Concordia University Chicago Cougars (25-13, 25-17, 25-19) on Tuesday evening in the Igini Sports Forum to move to 17-7 on the season and 5-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).
Â
"We were able to get a lot of kids in today," commented
Jeanne Czipri, the Stars' second-year head coach. "This helps us moving forward as we got a lot of kids experience and with a number of matches in the next week, it keeps kids fresh. With that said, we need to even things out and not be so up and down."
Â
Czipri played 14 student-athletes on Tuesday, using an opportunity to get some rest for Dominican's all-region setter
Christina Wilson (Homer Glen, Ill.) who played in just one set in the Stars' winning effort. In that one set, Wilson dished out 14 assists before turning the match over to freshman setter
Jackie Mursuli (Inverness, Ill.) who tallied 22 assists over the second and third sets.
Â
Wilson and Mursuli utilized a number of offensive weapons as the Stars kept the Cougars' defense guessing, hitting .263 for the match including a .448 attack percentage for the first set.Â
Rosalyn Wyse (Greenville, Mich.) and
Kendyl Todd (Crete, Ill.) led the attack, posting 11 and ten kills respectively while
Alex Kisten (Huntley, Ill.) picked up nine kills. All three were extremely efficient with Todd hitting a team-high .444 on her 18 attacks while Kisten hit at a .381 clip and Wyse posted a .276 hitting percentage.
Â
Defensively, the Stars held the Cougars to a .000 hitting percentage (17 kills, 17 errors) by collecting 49 digs. Libero
Caitlen Foote (Dexter, Mich.) led the effort with 15 digs while
Alissa Vance (Phoenix, Ariz.) added ten digs of her own.
Â
Dominican returns to NACC action on Friday night, hosting the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors for a 7:00 p.m. match in the Igini Sports Forum.
