Kendyl Todd (Crete, Ill.) knocked down 15 kills on just 23 swings to hit .609 and added four service aces and a pair of blocks to lead the Dominican University women's volleyball team past the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors in four sets (25-14, 20-25, 25-18, 25-18) on Friday night in the Igini Sports Forum.
"We really played well together and definitely played as a team," commented Todd following the Stars' 17
th win of the season. "We were giving some really great passes, putting
Christina [Wilson] (Homer Glen, Ill.) in a great position to set all of her hitters. We have been working really hard on that connection in practice and I think it is really showing."
Offensively, Wilson had the Stars' offense running like a well-oiled machine, using five different hitters and posting a .274 attack percentage. Including Todd, three hitters reached double-digit kills with
Rosalyn Wyse (Greenville, Mich.) and
Alex Kisten (Huntley, Ill.) logging 12 and ten kills respectively while
Tessa Griparis (Belleair, Fla.) knocked down eight kills of her own on just 15 swings.
In addition to the offensive punch Dominican exerted on Friday night, Dominican's middles made their presence felt at the net, racking up nine total blocks as a team. Griparis was in on seven total blocks, logging two solo and five assisted blocks while Kisten added three block assists and junior
Becky Dent (Powell, Wyo.) added a pair of blocks.
Audrey Wyse (Greenville, Mich.) and
Caitlen Foote (Dexter, Mich.) led the defensive effort in the back row, tallying 12 digs and ten digs respectively.
With the win the Stars move to 18-7 on the year and 6-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC). Dominican will be back in action on Saturday, hosting the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons, tied for first in the NACC standings, for a 7:00 p.m. match in the Igini Sports Forum.
