The Dominican University women's soccer team got back in the win column on Tuesday afternoon, rolling past the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks 5-1 in non-conference action in River Forest.
Kelli Iovino (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and
Lauren Zuro (Elmwood Park, Ill.) had two goals and an assist each while
Taylor Adler (Shorewood, Ill.) notched a goal and two assists.
"It was really important for us that we were able to possess nicely and finish off two really nice shots right off the bat," commented senior captain
Sara Stepanovich (Des Plaines, Ill.). "It was really good to see how we bounced back and we didn't stay in the slump."

A minute later it was a turn and through-ball played by
Stephanie Mata (West Chicago, Ill.) that set up Iovino for what proved to be the game-winning goal. Mata shielded the ball from a defender before turning and playing a ball for Iovino through the Scarlet Hawks' backline and Iovino's first touch was a poke inside the far post.
Despite outshooting the Scarlet Hawks 10-3 over the first 45 minutes, the score remained 2-0 into the 53
rd minute when IIT pulled within a goal when Kristen Barrett scored on a free kick just outside the left corner of the Stars' 18-yard box.
Four minutes later in the 57

th of the season.
Dominican than added a pair of insurance markers in the last ten minutes of play. Zuro blasted a shot from 18-yards out over the Scarlet Hawks' goalkeeper after Illinois Tech failed to clear in their defensive third. Zuro then scored on a beautiful header in the 89
th minute after
Alexis Mondragon (Chicago, Ill.) sent Adler to the endline before Adler served to the back post. Zuro, making a run at the post, was able to finish off the service for her seventh goal of the season.
Dominican outshot Illinois Tech 19-12 for the match and held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Stepanovich, making her first start of the season in goal, logged four saves to pick up her first win of the season.
