The Dominican University women's basketball team dropped a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) matchup with their neighborhood rivals on Saturday afternoon, falling 91-77 to the Concordia University Chicago Cougars in the Igini Sports Forum.

"Our kids fought hard today," commented
Gabby Johnson, the Stars' head coach following the game. "We are learning how to make in-game adjustments and then execute them."

Trailing 51-42 at the break, Dominican roared back in the third quarter, outscoring the Cougars 28-18 behind ten points from
Allie Tapanes (Winfield, Ill.) to take a 70-69 lead into the fourth. However, the Cougars opened the fourth on a 7-0 run and never looked back, outscoring Dominican 22-7 over the final ten minutes.

Tapanes finished with a game-high 19 points on 6-for-15 shooting to lead four in double-figures for Dominican in the losing effort. Tapanes went 5-for-9 from three-point range as Dominican finished shooting 9-for-26 from long range in the contest.

Jasmyn Hardin (Cincinnati, Ohio) added 15 points and grabbed 12 rebound for her sixth double-double of the season for the Stars.Â
Shamia Clark (Rock Island, Ill.) added 14 points off the bench while
Koraima Marroquin (Chicago, Ill.) matched a season-high with 13 points on 5-for-13 shooting from the field.

For the Cougars, Taylor Jacobsen scored a team-high 17 points on 7-for-9 shooting off the bench.

"We have to get in the gym tomorrow and get ready for Monday," said Johnson.

The Stars take a break from NACC play on Monday, heading to Illinois Tech to take on the Scarlet Hawks. Tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Stars' final game of 2015.
