Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Stars Slighted By Rockford In OT

The Dominican University men's basketball team got 23 points from freshman Tim Robertson (Chicago, Ill.) and 62 points from its bench but was edged by the Rockford University Regents, 97-91 in overtime Wednesday night in the Igini Sports Forum.

Rich Bodee (Darien, Ill.) dropped in a long three to give Dominican an 82-80 lead with 23 seconds remaining in regulation before the Regents' Trae Blumhorst forced overtime with a lay in in the final five seconds.  In the overtime, the Regents scored the first seven points and outscored Dominican 15-9 in the extra frame.

Robertson shot 8-for-16 from the field and 7-for-9 from the foul line in scoring 20-plus points for the fifth time on the season and fourth time in the Stars' last six games.  In nine games since the calendar turned to 2015, Robertson is averaging 17.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while shooting better than 46 percent from the field.

Sophomore Ryan Modiest (Joliet, Ill.) led the Stars' bench mob, scoring a career-high 17 points on 5-for-6 shooting from three in 31 minutes.  Kevin Fervil (Plainfield, Ill.) logged his first career double-double, posting career highs of 16 points and 14 rebounds while Anoribe Nwannewuihe (Chicago, Ill.) and Bodee added 11 and ten points respectively in the losing effort.

For the game, Dominican shot 50 percent (34-68) from the field and better than 56 percent (9-16) from three.  However, the Stars turned the ball over 19 times while forcing just nine Rockford turnovers.

Rockford was led by Zach Wallace's game-high 27 points.  Blumhorst added 26 points while John O'Bryan dropped in 18, scoring 15 in the second half.

With the loss, the Stars fall to 2-19 on the season and 2-14 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).  Dominican will be back in action on Saturday, hosting the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons for a 4:15 p.m. tipoff in the Igini Sports Forum.
