Stars Lose Two in Decatur to Big Blue

The Dominican University baseball team dropped a doubleheader to the Millikin University Big Blue on the road in Decatur, Illinois, 15-4 and 10-6.

Game 1 – Millikin 15, Dominican 4

The Big Blue put up 15 runs on 15 hits and two Stars' miscues during the scheduled seven inning game at Sunnyside Park.

Dakota Pisarek (Chicago, Ill.) suffered the loss in game one, surrendering seven earned runs on eight hits and one walk, lasting just 1.1 innings in his second start of the season.

In total, the Big Blue collected five extra-base hits, including four home runs while Dominican tallied 11 total hits, including a three-run home run by freshman Joe Kukla, his first of the season.  Kukla finished the game, 2-for-2 with three runs batted in and a run scored.

Game 2 – Millikin 10, Dominican 6

Daniel Supple (Albany, California) got his fourth start of the season for Dominican in game two, suffering his first loss of the season after allowing eight runs, six earned, on 12 hits and six walks over 6.2 innings of work.

Millikin picked up where the left off in game one, plating three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-0 lead.  Dominican would tie the game up in the third, capitalizing on a Big Blue throwing error and a pair of wild pitches. However, Millikin retaliated with three runs of their own to make it a 6-3 ballgame through three innings of play and the Big Blue lead the rest of the way.

Dominican managed eight hits in game two, led by Quinlan Milne Rojek (Minneapolis, Minn.), who went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

The Stars drop to a 2-7 overall record on the year and return to action on Sunday, traveling to North Park University for a pair games against Cornell College and North Park.  First pitch for the Cornell game is set for 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM for the North Park game respectively.  The Stars will be providing live stats for the doubleheader and audio will be provided by North Park.  Check out the baseball page for links to the upcoming game coverage.
