The Dominican University men's volleyball team dropped its second match in the last eight days to the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League-leading Carthage College on Wednesday night, falling 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-17) in River Forest.

The loss drops the Stars, who are ranked 14
th in this week's AVCA Men's Division III Top 15 Poll, to 7-6 on the season and 6-2 in the MCVL, two games behind the Red Men who are 8-0 with six matches to go in the conference season.

After dropping the first set, 25-20, Dominican appeared poised to even the match, leading the Red Men 22-20 in set two. However, the Red Men scored the final five points of the set, four as a result of Dominican University errors, and killed any momentum the Stars had going. Carthage then rolled in the third set, hitting .417 with 13 kills on just 24 swings while committing just three attack errors to take the set 25-17.

Four different hitters had at least six kills for the Stars, led by
Jeremy Royko (Naperville, Ill.) who knocked down eight kills while
Alex Coyne (Naperville, Ill.) tallied 32 assists.

Dominican, a team that hits .257 as a team, managed to post just a .181 attack percentage in the losing effort, committing 17 attack errors in the losing effort.

Dominican takes a two-week break from MCVL action, heading east for a spring trip to Boston where the Stars will take on #6 Springfield College and #13 MIT as well as Lasell, Endicott and Johnson & Wales. Â
