The Dominican University baseball team was swept by the Illinois College Blueboys in the 2015 Opening Day Series in Fort Myers, Florida, at the Player Development Complex.  Dominican committed six errors in the doubleheader, surrendering 13 runs for the day.
Game One – Illinois College 9, Dominican 4
The Blueboys put up two runs on a pair of extra-base hits to start the game off of
Chance Emlund (Chicago, III.) who got the opening game start for the Stars.
After another run for the Blueboys in the top of the second, Dominican got on the board thanks to a leadoff triple by
Richie Green (Chicago, III.).  After back-to-back strikeouts, Green came across on a RBI double by
Kevin Schwer (Evergreen Park, III.).  Freshman
Max Jungblut (Las Vegas, Nev.) followed with an RBI single up the middle to plate Schwer as the Stars pulled within a run.
Illinois College tacked on a run on with a two-out single to push the score to 4-2.
The Blueboys added another in the top of the fourth on a RBI single by Josh Krumwiede.
Green started another rally in the bottom of the fourth, drawing a leadoff walk.
Joe Kukla (Chicago, III.) followed with a bunt single ahead of
Royce Salay (Henderson, Nev.) who plated Green with a single up the middle.  After a flyout, Jungblut drove in his second run of the game with single through the right side, pushing Salay to third.  With one out,
Quinlan Milne Rojek (Minneapolis, Minn.) laid down a safety squeeze with Salay slipping at third as the Blueboys turned a 1-3-2 double play.
Illinois College then broke open the game with a four-run sixth, the big blow a three-run home run out to right by Krumwiede that ended the day for Emlund.
Emlund lasted 5.1 innings in taking the loss, surrendering nine runs, eight earned, on ten hits and two walks while striking out six.
Offensively, the Stars managed just one hit after the fourth finishing the game with nine hits led by Jungblut who knocked out two hits and had two RBI.
Game Two – Illinois College 4, Dominican 1
In game two, Dominican's offense stalled through the first four innings, managing just one base runner through four innings and falling behind 2-0 with
Dakota Pisarek (Chicago, Ill.) on the mound.
The Stars finally broke through in the fifth, as Salay legged out an infield single with a runner on first.  Schwer followed with a single to left-center to score
Lucas McKinney (Arvada, Colo.) but the rally was stopped when Jungblut bounced out to end the threat.
Illinois College plated a pair of insurance runs in the bottom half of the inning, putting the game away.
Pisarek scattered ten hits over four-plus innings, surrendering four runs to take the loss in his first start of the season.
In total, Dominican managed just three hits, with
Colin Janison (Las Vegas, Nev.) tallying a single in the Stars' half of the seventh.
