Game Recap: Baseball |

Stars Swept By Sabres

The Dominican University baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to the Marian University Sabres on Sunday afternoon in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, falling to 11-24 overall and 7-11 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).

The Stars close out the 2015 regular season with four games at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium this week, including a NACC series against the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors on Friday.

Game One:  Marian 5, Dominican 0

The Stars managed just four hits as Marian's Taylor Bryc tossed a complete game, walking just one while striking out four, to move to 4-0 on the season.

Dominican's Chance Emlund (Chicago, III.) suffered the loss on the mound, surrendering five runs on 11 hits and four walks over 6 2/3 innings of work.  The Sabres strung together four hits against Emlund in the bottom of the second to open a 3-0 lead and never trailed in the game.

Richie Green (Chicago, III.), Quinlan Milne Rojek (Minneapolis, Minn.), Colin Janison (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Joe Lyons (Chicago Ridge, III.) each picked up a single in the loss for the Stars.

Game Two:  Marian 3, Dominican 2

Milne Rojek suffered his first loss of the season, falling to 1-1 in his fourth start of the year.  The junior right-hander scattered nine hits over seven-plus innings, giving up three runs while walking one and striking out one.

With the game tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth, the Sabres knocked Milne Rojek out of the game, stringing together three hits to open the inning and pushing across a run.  The Sabres added a run on a sacrifice bunt before Janison closed out the inning with the Stars trailing 3-1 heading to the ninth.

J.T. Hicks (Albion, Mich.) led off the inning with a single followed by a hit batter to put the tying run on base for Dominican.  Joe Kukla (Chicago, III.) pushed the runners over with a sacrifice bunt.  After a flyout, Milne Rojek singled through the right side to plate one run but that was all the Stars could manage.
