Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Takes Two To Close Out IIAC-NACC Challenge

The Dominican University women's volleyball team picked up a pair of four-set victories on Saturday, knocking off Central College (25-17, 17-25, 25-21, 25-17) and Buena Vista University (25-11, 26-28, 25-21, 25-20) to close out the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (IIAC-NACC) Challenge 3-1 and move to 12-6 on the season.

Despite struggling in the morning match against Central, Dominican held the Dutch to just 51 points on 38 kills as the Stars collected 63 digs and forced Central into 23 hitting errors.  Olivia Szuszkiewicz (Barrington, Ill.) and Kendyl Todd (Crete, Ill.) led the defensive effort, posting 18 digs and six block assists respectively.

Todd also carried the weight offensively, knocking down 11 kills while Maddi Zanoni (Hudsonville, Mich.) and Alex Kisten (Huntley, Ill.) added eight and nine kills respectively and Christina Wilson (Homer Glen, Ill.) dished out 36 assists.

Dominican then flipped the script in the afternoon match against Buena Vista, allowing the offense to carry the load.  The Stars hit a blistering .252 with four players reaching double-digit kills paced by Carri Chambers's (Winnebago, Ill.) 18 kills.  Kisten chipped in 13 while Zanoni and Todd collected 12 and 11 kills respectively and Wilson tallied 48 assists.

Defensively, Caitlen Foote's (Dexter, Mich.) match-high 22 digs paced the Stars while Wilson added 20 digs for her 12th double-double of the season.

"We played some very strong defensive teams and some creative offenses today," said Dominican's second-year head coach Jeanne Czipri. "It was good to see our offense click in the last match of the crossover, especially after struggling during some stretches earlier in the day.  The girls can take a lot away from this weekend. We are excited to get after it in our conference after a challenging September schedule."

The Stars are now 12-6 overall and return to NACC action on Wednesday, hosting the Benedictine University Eagles for a 7:00 p.m. match in the Igini Sports Forum.
