The Dominican University men's basketball team went up against the hottest team in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), the sixth-ranked Benedictine University Eagles, falling 110-78 to the Eagles.

Dominican hung with the Eagles early, trading 12 leads over the first eight minutes. Benedictine, then leading 31-27 with 6:30 to go in the first half, used a 14-0 run to open a 45-27 lead and never looked back.

The Stars shot better than 44 percent from the field, 29-for-65, but the Eagles shot a season-best 71 percent, 43-for-60.

Josh Mayberry dropped in 17 points in the losing effort for Dominican while Tim Robertson and Charlie Ollis added 16 and 13 respectively.

For the Eagles, Lucas Johnson led the way with a game-high 19 points, leading four in double-figures for Benedictine.

The Stars, now 1-9 on the season and 0-6 in the NACC, return to the Igini Sports Forum on Saturday, hosting the Lakeland College Muskies for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff.Â
