The Dominican University women's soccer team got back on track on Saturday afternoon, scoring a 2-1 overtime win over the Marian University Sabres on freshman
Josseline Williams's golden goal in the 92
nd minute.
Â
"I was really happy with our team and the fight we played with throughout the match," said Stars' head coach Carlos Carrillo. "I was really proud of our captains and the leadership they provided. In close games, leadership is important. I couldn't have asked for a better way to bounce back after Wednesday's loss."
Â
After a scoreless opening half, Williams opened the scoring in the 50
th minute of play when the freshman converted on a Dominican University penalty kick after the Stars'
Tania Paez was taken down in the box. It was the freshman's third PK goal on three attempts.
Â
The Sabres leveled the score just ten minutes later and that is how the score remained through regular time until Williams struck again, her seventh tally of the season and second game-winner, in the 92
nd minute. Paez led the counter attack for the Stars before playing Williams who beat the Sabres' Alysha Kallas.
Â
For Dominican, sophomore
Pamela Ruiz picked up the win in goal, logging three saves as Dominican doubled up the Sabres in shots, 14-7.

Dominican, now 5-4-0 on the season, returns home to West Campus Field on Sunday, hosting the Illinois College Lady Blues for a 12:00 p.m. kickoff.
