Yaghmour Nets Hat Trick As Stars Roll Rockford

The Dominican University men's soccer team, ranked seventh in this week's NSCAA Central Region rankings, notched their seventh straight shutout, topping the Rockford University Regents 8-0 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Wednesday afternoon at West Campus Field.  The Stars' Adam Yaghmour scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 18th minute and added two more goals as part of a six-goal second half for Dominican to collect his first career hat trick.

Carlos Ramos added a pair of goals for Dominican while Nestor Ascencio, Alex Rohder and Carlos Gonzalez tallied one goal apiece.

The Stars stuffed the stat sheet, firing a season-high 46 shots and putting 18 on goal while not allowing the Regents to get off a shot.  Jonathan Arzeta took a team-high eight shots, putting four on goal but the only point he managed came on an assist on Yaghmour's goal in the first half, the sixth assist on the season for the junior.

With the shutout, Dominican runs its consecutive shutout streak to better than 716 minutes, having not surrendered a goal since September 14.  Dominican University senior goalkeeper Gabriel Gongora picked up the shutout, his seventh of the season, lowering his goals against average to 0.58, best in the conference.

The Stars, now 7-2-2 on the season and 5-0-0 in league play, have outscored their NACC opponents 26-0 in five conference games.

"We've had a nice stretch of shutout wins," said Erick Baumann following the match, "and we need to look for that to continue on the road this Saturday in our next conference match."

That match is a rematch of the 2015 NACC Tournament Championship, with Dominican traveling to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to face the MSOE Raiders.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
