Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Stars Win Eighth Straight To Remain Perfect In NACC

The Dominican University men's soccer team moved to 8-2-2 and remained a perfect 6-0-0 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play, picking up their eighth straight win with a 3-1 win at MSOE on Saturday afternoon.

The Stars took a 2-0 lead in the first half after goals by Jonathan Arzeta in the 22nd minute and freshman Nicolo Vitale in the 37th minute.

MSOE, after getting off just one shot in the first half, pulled within 2-1 in the 53rd minute on Sean Tabbert's second goal of the season, scoring on a restart.  The goal snapped a stretch of 769 consecutive minutes of shutout soccer for the Stars who had not surrendered a goal since September 14th.

Dominican was able to reorganize and extended the lead back to two goals when Adam Yaghmour notched his team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 80th minute.

"We played well in the first half and scored a great goal through the run of play and another off a well-executed restart," said Erick Baumann following the win. "We lacked discipline with our defending in the second half and they made us pay for it off of a long service free kick. It was nice to see us respond and get that third goal to put the match away."

Dominican doubled up the Raiders on the stat sheet, ten shots to five, putting six shots on goal as compared to two shots on goal for MSOE.

Dominican's Gabriel Gongora picked up his seventh win in goal, logging one save and moving his conference-best goals against average to 0.62.

Arzeta finished with three points in the match, picking up an assist on Vitale's goal.

"This was a good win on the road and now we can prepare for our game at home on Wednesday," continued Baumann.

That Wednesday match at home, the first of four straight home games for the Stars, is a 4:00 p.m. kickoff against the Aurora University Spartans.
