The Dominican University women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in the first ten minutes of play en route to a 7-0 win over the Alverno College Inferno on Wednesday afternoon in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) action. The win was the Stars' seventh of the season, improving to 7-4-0 overall and 4-2-0 in league play.
"It was nice to see us come out fast and sharp," said Dominican's
Carlos Carrillo, head coach since 2014. "We put them under a lot of pressure and were able to score within the first five minutes and that carried throughout the match."
For the Stars,
Lexi Kiotis and
Alexis Hoskins tallied two goals apiece while
Josseline Williams,
Tania Paez and
Stephanie Corona rounded out the offensive outburst with one goal apiece.
Dominican dominated the match, pelting the Alverno goal with 28 shots, putting 14 on frame while surrendering just one shot to the Inferno.
For the Stars,
Pamela Ruiz picked up the shutout victory, her third shutout of the season and trimming her goals against average down to 1.36.
Dominican returns home on Saturday to host the Aurora University Spartans at West Campus Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
