The Dominican University women's volleyball team rebounded from its first loss in conference play of the season with a three-set (25-19, 25-16, 25-23) win over the Marian University Sabres in the Igini Sports Forum on Saturday afternoon.
Â
"I'm excited to get another win today," said
Jeanne Czipri, the Stars' head coach. "We did some nice things and got better offensively in each set. Our first contact was better than what it has been but we still have a lot of work to do to clean things up. We will continue to take things one touch, one practice, one set and one match at a time."
Â
The Stars hit at a .256 clip in the win behind sophomore
Jackie Mursuli who doled out 26 assists.Â
Rosalyn Wyse knocked down a team-high ten kills while
Alex Kisten and
Kendyl Todd added seven and six kills respectively. Mursuli and
Megan Parker added to the attack with three aces apiece with Dominican serving ten aces total.
Â
Defensively,
Tessa Griparis was in on three of Dominican's five total blocks while
Audrey Wyse collected a match-high 13 digs.
Â
Dominican, now 6-15 overall and 4-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), will take the short trip down Division Street on Tuesday, taking on the Concordia University Chicago Cougars in league play. The rivalry match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
