Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Stars Upend MSOE

The Dominican University men's basketball scored their biggest win of the season on Saturday afternoon, topping the visiting MSOE Raiders 97-90 in the Igini Sports Forum behind a combined 53 points from Tim Robertson (Chicago, Ill.) and Josh Mayberry (Canton, Mich.).

After the Raiders opened an eight-point, 31-23, lead in the first half, Dominican raced back on a 19-2 run to pull ahead 42-33 when Antonio Amoah (Chicago, Ill.) buried a corner three with four minutes to play in the first half.

MSOE answered with their own run, outscoring the Stars 15-4 to take a 48-47 lead at the half.

In the second half, Derek Steck (New Berlin, Wis.) sparked a 10-2 run for the Stars when the freshman rattled in a top-side three with 15:15, giving Dominican a lead they would never relinquish.

Robertson finished with a team-high 29 points on 11-for-16 shooting and going 7-for-8 at the free throw line.

Mayberry added 24 points while Amoah and Steck rounded out four in double figures for the Stars with 19 and 14 respectively.

As a team, the Stars shot over 50-percent from the field (36-71), including going 19-for-33 in the second half.

MSOE was paced by All-American Austin Stueck's game-high 33 points on 11-for-17 shooting, including going 7-for-11 from three.  Connor Patterson added 18 for the Raiders in the losing effort.

Dominican, now 5-18 on the season and 3-15 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC), will travel to Concordia University Chicago on Wednesday to take on the Cougars.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
