Cody Schuster (Las Vegas, Nev.) became the Stars' baseball program career leader in hits. Sitting at 167 career hits entering the night, Schuster lined a double to the gap in left-center for his 168
th career base hit, surpassing Adam Lotus for the top spot on the Stars' all-time hits list.
A career .305 hitter in 553 at-bats, Schuster boasts 47 extra-base hits including 43 career doubles. In addition to the career hits mark, the senior catcher is Dominican's all-time leader in games played and games started and ranks in the top five in the program in doubles (43), at-bats (553), RBI (84) and total bases (223).
Despite a pair of hits from Schuster, the Thunder took an early 3-0 lead and never trailed in the contest.
Facing a 6-0 deficit in the bottom of the fifth, Dominican scored five runs on two hits, an error, three walks and a hit batter in the inning but answered with three runs in the top of the sixth.
Senior right-hander
Quinlan Milne Rojek (Minneapolis, Minn.) was charged with the loss, surrendering six runs on eight hits and one walk in five innings of work.
Offensively, Schuster and classmate
Lucas McKinney (Arvada, Colo.) logged two hits apiece while
Colin Janison (Las Vegas, Nev.) had a double and
Joe Kukla (Chicago, Ill.) plated a pair of runs on a single.
The Stars, now 11-16 overall, return to action on Thursday, hosting the Elmhurst College Bluejays in a non-conference tilt. First pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m. at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium.
