Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Stars Doubled Up By Bluejays

The Dominican University women's soccer team dropped their season opener on Thursday night, falling 4-2 to the Elmhurst College Bluejays in Elmhurst.  For Dominican, freshman Josseline Williams tallied her first collegiate goal in the 26th minute, leveling the score at 1-1 before three unanswered goals for the Bluejays in a span of 26 minutes put the game away.

"It was a closer game the score reflects," said Carlos Carrillo, the Stars' head coach following the match. "There were a lot of positives from a young group of hard-working women. We played hard for the full ninety minutes, playing with heart throughout the match."

Lexi Kiotis tallied Dominican's other goal, scoring in the 75th minute to bring the Stars within 4-2 with just over 15 minutes to play.

While the Bluejays outshot the Stars 11-6, Dominican limited quality chances, holding the Bluejays to seven shots on goal while managing to put all six of their shots on frame.

"I am really excited about this group and what we are capable of achieving," finished Carrillo.

Dominican will be back in action on Sunday, traveling to De Pere, Wisconsin, to take on the St. Norbert College Green Knights in a non-conference meeting.  Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
