The Dominican University women's tennis team dropped a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) matches on Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin, falling the Edgewood College Eagles 7-2 before the Marian University Sabres upended the Stars by the same 7-2 count.
Â
Morganne Scmidt and
Bridget Garner notched the Stars' only points against the preseason favorite Eagles, posting victories at numbers three and five singles respectively. Schmidt earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Edgewood's Marissa Wilson while Garner topped her fifth singles' counterpart, Sydney Verbauwhede in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
Â
Schmidt grabbed another point for the Stars in the matinee match with the Sabres, teaming with
Heidi Carvagal for an 8-4 win at number three doubles but Dominican managed just one point in singles action,
Gabby Curran's 6-1, 6-2 win over Marian's Kristin Houle at the six singles flight.
Â
The Stars, now 1-3 on the season, take a break from league action, hosting the North Park University Vikings for a 5:00 p.m. match on Tuesday before returning to NACC action next Saturday when MSOE and Wisconsin Lutheran visit the Stars in Forest Park.
