Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Stars Fall To Maroons

The Dominican University women's volleyball team continued to navigate one of the toughest schedules in the Midwest on Saturday, falling to the University of Chicago Maroons in three sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-23) at the Igini Sports Forum.  Chicago was the fourth straight opponent Dominican has faced in the BennettRank top 40 in NCAA Division III.

"As frustrating as it is to be 0-6, we have to keep focus on the process," commented Jeanne Czipri following the match. "We are still working on getting our groove and keeping it for an entire match—putting all the moving pieces together.  I hope this incredibly tough schedule we have played early sets us up for success late in the season."

For the match, the Stars managed just 29 kills to the Maroons 43.  Kendyl Todd knocked down a team-high nine kills for the Stars on 17 swings without an error while Chicago's Sarah Muisenga powered the Maroons with a match-high 17 kills on just 34 swings.

"Our offense needs to get going," continued Czipri. "We have had significantly less kills than our opponents in all of our matches.  We are making fewer errors, but still aren't scoring enough points.  That being said, Kendyl and Becky [Dent] had a great match and I was happy to see them get as many opportunities as they did."

The Stars, now 0-6 on the season, open Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play on Tuesday, hosting the Rockford University Regents for a 7:00 p.m. match in the Igini Sports Forum.
