The Dominican University women's volleyball team picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday night, opening Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play with a three-set (25-15, 25-16, 25-19) win over the visiting Rockford University Regents in the Igini Sports Forum.
Â
"The girls have worked incredibly hard so far this season," commented
Jeanne Czipri, the Stars' third-year head coach. "I'm really excited that the girls maintained their composure throughout the match tonight, even when Rockford was able to make some runs, and it feels good to finally get a win."
Â
The Stars hit a season-best .220 in the winning effort, collecting 36 kills on 91 swings while committing just 16 errors. Juniors
Kendyl Todd and

Â
"Kendyl is starting to get her confidence back as she finds a way to connect with three new setters," said Czipri when asked about her junior middle. "She is doing a great job of adjusting as well as our setters are getting better at being more assistant and finding our middles."
Â
In total, eight different hitters logged kills for Dominican including four apiece for
Maddi Zanoni,
Becky Dent,
Rosalyn Wyse and
Stephanie Cole with
Jackie Mursuli (20 assists) and
Elin Ream (6 assists) sharing setting duties.
