Stars Stunned In NACC Opener

The Dominican University women's soccer team opened Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Saturday afternoon, falling to the defending NACC Tournament Champions, the MSOE Raiders, 7-0 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

"We were unorganized to start the match and dug ourselves into a hole giving up two quick goals," said Dominican's Carlos Carrillo following the match.  "From that point on, we were chasing the game and continued to make mistake after mistake that led to more goals for MSOE."

The Raiders opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Kelsey Hailey found the back of the net for the second time this season.  Just 33 seconds later, Sara Travia beat Dominican's Vanessa Gonzalez for her first of three scores on the day.

MSOE added two more goals before the first half was over and then netted three more in the second half while the Stars could not beat the Raiders' Mary McFee who made four saves in 57 minutes of work.

With the loss, Dominican drops to 2-3-0 on the season, suffering back-to-back losses for the first time since September 2014.  The Stars will return to the pitch on Tuesday, September 20, hosting the Rockford University Regents for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff on West Campus Field.
