The Dominican University men's soccer team scored three goals in a 15 minute span during the first half and then posted their third straight clean sheet to top the Lakeland College Muskies 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Alex Rohder scored the first of his two goals in just the seventh minute of play.
Zack Venzon's corner kick service found
Jonathan Arzeta's head in the box and then skipped towards Rohder who drove a header into the back of the goal.
Eleven minutes later, Rohder struck again, this time getting on the end of freshman
Isaac Perez's corner service and beating Thomis Mannebach for his second goal of the season.
Dominican then added an insurance goal in the 22
nd minute when Arzeta carried up the flank before slipping a pass to
Adam Yaghmour who finished for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Defensively, Dominican surrendered just three total shots to earn their fourth shutout of the season.
"It's always good to get a shutout win and get that many guys some playing time at the same time," commented
Erick Baumann, the Stars' head coach, after the win.
The Stars are now 3-2-2 overall and 2-0-0 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play. Dominican travels down Division Street on Wednesday, taking on their River Forest rivals, the Concordia University Chicago Cougars, at 3:00 p.m.
