The Dominican University women's tennis team opened the 2016 Fall season on Sunday afternoon in Galesburg, Illinois, falling to the Knox College Prairie Fire 8-1.
Freshman
Bridget Garner, playing in her first collegiate tennis match, tallied the lone point for the Stars, topping the Prairie Fire's Sierra Henry in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.
"The scores do not reflect how close the points actually were," commented
Nicole Selvaggio, the Stars' first-year head coach. "Our girls really fought hard and I am optimistic about where we can go from here."
The Stars open Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Thursday, hosting the Aurora University Spartans for a 4:00 p.m. match at Dominican's home courts in Forest Park.
