The Dominican University women's tennis team closed out the fall season on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Alverno College Inferno, 8-1, at the Racine Tennis Club in Racine, Wisconsin. The loss drops the Stars to 1-12 on the season, 1-8 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play.
"This was a tough one to end the fall season," said Troy Tonsil, the Stars' head coach. "We had our moments and opportunities, but we could not capitalize. Heidi [Carvajal] getting on the board with a singles win was great and will add to her confidence moving forward. More work is required going into the off-season, but there were takeaways we will build upon in the spring to prepare us for a huge turnaround next season."
For the Stars, the lone point came at number one singles, where sophomore
Heidi Carvajal knocked off Michelle Alexander in a tie-breaker, 2-6, 6-2, 10-4. For Carvajal, the win was her fourth of the season, third in league play.
