Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Stars Sunk By Muskies

The Dominican University men's basketball team dropped their third straight, falling to the Lakeland College Muskies, 86-55, on Tuesday night at the Igini Sports Forum.  The Stars, 1-3 on the season, kept pace with the Muskies in the first half before Lakeland pulled away in the second half, outscoring Dominican 51-23 over the final 20 minutes.

Lakeland built an 11-point first half advantage while the Stars endured a near eight minute scoreless drought.  The Stars eventually snapped the drought when Jonny Woolf scored on a driving lay in with 5:42 to play in the opening half, sparking a 17-10 run for Dominican to close out the half and narrow the Lakeland lead to 35-32 at the break.

In the second half, Lakeland used a 10-2 run over the first 2:40 of the period to push the lead back to double-digits, 45-34, with 17:20 to play and never looked back.

Lakeland's Pat McDonald scored 13 of his game-high 16 points in the second half as the Muskies shot better than 52-percent from the field during the second half.

McDonald led five in double-figures scoring for Lakeland, including 15 for Shakur Jinad and 14 for Joshuan McNeal.

For the Stars, Antonio Amoah led the way with 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting off the bench.

As a team, Dominican shot just 22-for-70 from the field, including 4-for-18 from behind the three-point arc.  The Muskies finished the night shooting 31-for-72 from the field, going 7-for-23 from three, and converted on 17 of 25 trips to the foul line.

Dominican will look to get back on track on Saturday, traveling to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to take on the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play.  Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
