The Dominican University women's tennis team traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) dual matches on Saturday, falling 9-0 to the MSOE Raiders before the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors topped the Stars, 9-0, in the second match of the day.
Freshman Evelyn Bernacho dropped her matched against MSOE's Riya Charhaudi, 4-6, 6-6 (7-5). "The end result of the morning was not indicative of how the day went for the Stars," commented head tennis coach Troy Tonsil. "We played hard down to the final point of the marathon 5th singles match. There are errors we can and will correct."
The Stars traveled to the Warriors' home courts where number two doubles nearly scored a point, when Anusha Mody and Sharon Neiza dropped the match 8-6. Elizabeth Cordes battled in her four singles flight, eventually falling 6-3, 0-6, 5-10. "There were some good takeaways from this afternoon," mentioned Tonsil. "We struggled to overcome timely mistakes both in singles and doubles matches. We will have a whole week to prepare and figure out where we need to improve and make the proper adjustments."
The Stars will take a break from NACC play and host Monmouth College on Saturday, September 23rd at 2:00 p.m. on the courts at Forest Park Park District.
