The Dominican University men's soccer team, boasting on the top offensive attacks in NCAA Division III, set a trio of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) single-game records on Saturday afternoon, posting a 16-0 win over the Lakeland University Muskies. Jonathan Arzeta doled out a conference record six assists despite playing just 45 minutes.
Sophomore
Nicolo Vitale knocked in the first of his four goals in the match in just the fifth minute of play, tallying what proved to be the game-winner.
Adam Yaghmour added three goals of his own in just 30 minutes of game time.
Isaac Perez and
Kyler Hilton tallied two goals apiece while Arzeta,
Nestor Ascencio,
Gabriel Moreno,
Denis Soldo and
Josh Prindle added one goal each in the winning effort.
In total, the Stars got five goals and six assists from its bench that played the entire second half.
The win was the fifth straight for the Stars who improve to 8-2-0 on the season and a perfect 4-0-0 in NACC play. On Wednesday, the Stars will hit the road for the first of three matches away from West Campus Field, traveling to nearby Lisle, Illinois, to take on the Benedictine University Eagles. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. under the Lights at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex.
